Heffley Lake
When you live in the Kamloops area, you have to paddle on the rivers or the lakes. Both rivers are great but loop routes are not as easy when you have to paddle upstream. Lakes offer an out and back choice and a good launch site and lots to see are what we want when choosing a paddling spot. One of the best choices is Heffley Lake. Drive to the far east end and take the road down to the beach and boat launch. The route is down the lake to the west end (past the islet) and back. One of my favorites…
We paddled Heffley Lake today, seeing a number of other paddlers out there. One of the best things about this lake is that most of the far side of the lake is undeveloped and there are some coves and islands to explore. The water lilies are just starting to bloom and the dragonflies were shifting across the water. The cliffs of Mt. Embleton stay in full view, reminding me to return for anther hike. Winds came up making it hard work to return, but we put our heads down and called it good exercise.
