Badger Lake is one of our favorite spots to paddle.

Driving Directions:

  • Route 1 – On the road to Sun Peaks, turn left onto the Knouff Lake Road.   Continue to Knouff Lake, then past the lake on a dirt road.   Ignore all turns and continue to Badger Lake.
  • Route 2 -Take Highway 5 North.   Turn onto the Orchard Lake FSR (Between Vinsula and McLure).   Continue up this gravel road to the junction with the Badger Lake Road.   Turn left and continue to the lake.

Boat Launch:

  • There is now a separate signed side road to the boat launch.
  • There is a good boat launch and lots of parking there.

Shoreline:

  • A forested shoreline.     There is one private camping area on the southeast corner.
  • The Rec site has 26 campsites on the eastern shore.

Pros

  • A quiet and remote paddling lake.
  • The back bay is marshy and is only accessible by canoe or kayak.
  • There is a small channel that can be used as a shortcut to the hidden lake.

Cons

  • A bumpy and remote road.
  • Later ice-off times.
