Bleeker Lake is a good spot for an out-of-the way paddle in spring and early summer.

Directions and Launch:

  • From Highway 5A South, turn left onto the Roche Lake Road.   At about the 7 km mark, turn left onto the signed Bleeker Lake FSR.
  • Drive 2 km on a bumpy road to the signed Bleeker Lake Rec Site.
  • There is a good boat launch at the site and lots of parking.

Lake Shoreline:

  • The shallow lake becomes grown in with aquatic plants or drawn down for irrigation in summer so a paddle in spring or early summer is recommended.
  • The east end has an extensive marsh which can be paddled in spring.
  • There are no homes and few campers at the Rec site.
  • A paddle around the shoreline is about 4.5 km.

Pros:

  • A quiet, out-of-the way lake with few fishermen and few paddlers.
  • A nice spot for a spring paddle.
  • Lots of birds and aquatic life.

Cons:

  • A bumpy road.
  • Not a good paddling spot by mid-summer.
  • The lake has suffered winter kill two years in a row.
