Driving Directions:
- From Kamloops, drive north on the Lac du Bois Road. At the McQueen Lake intersection (left to Pass Lake, right to Isobel Lake), turn right (east).
- Follow the Isobel Lake Road watching for signage along the way
Boat Launch
- The boat launch is at the far end of the Isobel Lake Recreation Site.
- There is adequate parking there.
- Much of the lake is marshy, but we can paddle most bays. Watch for snags in the water.
- Most of the shoreline is forested but there are islands, trails, and waterfowl to observe.
- A paddle around the lake is 2.5 km. We usually go around twice, once in each direction.
Pros
- A quiet spot to paddle at non-prime times.
- Lots of pond life and birds to observe
- A good place for a paddle and hike.
Cons
- At prime times the campground fills and the small lake becomes busy.
- A late ice-off season.
- The road can be bumpy and muddy early in the season.
