Leighton Lake is a dammed lake in Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park

Directions:

  • From Logan Lake drive west to the intersection with the Tunkwa Lake Road, then drive north 16 km to Tunkwa Lake Provincial Park
  • Alternately, turn off the Trans Canada Highway onto the Tunkwa Lake Road and continue north for 23 km.
  • Signage is large and clear for the entrance to Tunkwa and Leighton Lakes

Launch and Parking

  • Both lakes have gravel boat launches and lots of parking

Shoreline

  • A paddle around the shoreline is about 3.4 km.
  • The shoreline has some open forest and open grasslands.
  • It can be a busy spot in late spring.

Pros/Cons

  • Good access and a scenic spot
  • A busy lake in fishing season
  • The North Campground is mostly used by ATVs
