Driving Directions:
- Drive into Chase onto the main road which is Shuswap Avenue.
- Hand launch from Memorial Park – Shuswap Avenue > Pine Street > turn right on 2nd Avenue and go the park.
- Boat Launch – Shuswap Ave. > Pine Street > turn left on Mill Road into Mill Park.
Boat Launch
- We can launch from the beach at high water in Memorial Park.
- The main boat launch is on the South Thompson River just below the lake in Mill Park.
Shoreline
- This is a bigger lake and a paddle around the whole lakeshore is a lot to do, esp. if the winds arise.
- A preferred route is to launch by the river and paddle up the shoreline up and back. Both shorelines have rocky hills rising above.
- The northwestern shore has a few homes at the start, but has less after a short paddle. The southeastern shoreline is flanked by the railway below and the highway above.
Pros
- Good access and an early ice-off.
- A good paddle on a calm day.
- Any distance can be chosen.
- At high water, a hand launch from the beach is a pleasant option.
Cons
- On windy days, it can be a more difficult paddle.
- The boat launch can be busy at prime times.
- At low water, there is some fast water and some hazards on the river.
