Driving Directions:

  • Take the road to Sun Peaks and pass the village, then turn onto Sun Peaks Road.
  • The road becomes gravel and may be called the McGillivray Lake Road.
  • Watch for signage.   At about 5.7 km, turn left (east) to the McGillivray Lake Outpost.

 

Boat Launch

  • A the McGillivray Lake Outpost there is a boat launch and parking.
  • Another launch spot is at the McGillivray Lake Rec Site.   This is a small site with limited parking and a hand launch.

 

Shoreline

  • The shoreline is forested for most of the way around (5 km).
  • There is one private cabin and a Rec Site on the western shoreline.
  • Two larger islands give paddlers different route opportunities.

 

Pros

  • A quiet lake in the backcountry.

 

Cons

  • The road can be bumpy and muddy in the early season.
  • A late ice-off date.
  • the boat launch area can be busy at prime times.
