Ross Moore (Rossmoore) is a very nice lake, but it is in a remote, hard-to-get-to spot.
Directions/Launch:
- There are several routes to Ross Moore, but most required 4WD, except for the Long Lake Road route.
- The route to the lake is long (30 km on backroads) and there are a number of junctions to ignore. Signage does not help much. Using a GPS or mapping app is helpful.
- The McConnell FSR can also be used, but it is very busy with pipeline construction so it is not recommended at this time.
- The road around Ross Moore Lake is rough. There is a small Rec Site on the lake and a boat launch, but it is high clearance access.
- We have also launched off the dam area at the south end of the lake.
- A lap around the shoreline is 3.2 km.
- There is a cabin on the north shore owned by the Rocky Mountain Rangers.

Pros:
- A remote, quiet, and unspoiled lake.
- Best times are in summer or early fall.
Cons:
- A long drive on backroads with some high clearance sections.
- A late ice-off, then a period of time with muddy roads.
- A rougher launch area.
- A long drive for a smaller lake so two laps may be a good choice.
