Trapp Lake is a long, narrow, alkaline lake next to Highway 5 South.
Driving Directions:
- Drive south down Cardew Hill, past Shumway Lake, and past the Roche Lake turnoff. Trapp Lake is beside the highway for the next 5 km.
Boat Launch
- There is no official boat launch on the lake, but there is a good spot for a hand launch. A short dirt road leads out on a flat bench of land next to the lake (at N50 27.934 W120 16.283).
Shoreline
- Hills rise on every side of the lake. Some of the hillside on the east side are forested.
- The highway is on the west side.
Pros
- There will be no one on the lake, but there are usually lots of waterfowl.
- Early ice-off.
- A good spot for a longer steady paddle.
Cons
- A noisy highway. I recommend over-the-ear headphones for the paddle.
- Algae may multiply in late summer.
