Looking Ahead
A possibility strategy considered was to incorporate any future posts on kayaking into one of two other sites – Kamloops Trails and/or Ramble On. If so, I would copy and migrate the existing content to the other sites, then wind down this website.
Why?
- Kamloops Kayak gets about 20 visits a day in the off-season when there are few new posts.
- Kamloops Trails gets 300 – 900 visits a day.
- In paddling season, the site gets 1000 – 2000 views.
- There are 256 subscribers.
- Since I pay for all website costs myself, it about return for investment, in this case readership.
The plan was to have a kayaking only local website and that was achieved. There are two other websites that focus on competitive paddling (Kamloops Canoe and Kayak Club) and developmental paddling with canoeing as a primary focus (Thompson River Interior Paddlers).
A possible shift in the website could be to:
- promote other types of paddling and the events connected to them
- feature videos and third-pary content in the off-season
- try to organize some group activities
- Or?
A decision will be made this year. If you have thoughts, please comment or contact me.
