On a grey spring day I paddled around McConnell Lake twice.   There were no other boats on the lake, but there was a bald eagle, a loon, some ducks, and fish jumping for insects.

McConnell Lake Provincial Park is a lovely spot to kayak, hike, or snowshoe, one we return to a few times each year.

• McConnell Lake is 20 km south of Kamloops on the Lac le Jeune Road.
• There is a hand launch at the parking area.
• A loop around the lake is 2.5 km.
